Israel is home to around 200 wineries, from large and world-renowned to local ’boutique’ vineyards with a special taste and story. Wine production has been growing, both in exports and in local consumption; in 2012 some 32 million liters were produced. The festival of Shavu’ot (Tues-Wed) marks the beginning of spring, and wine sales spike this week every year; wineries present their special reserves and celebrate with events and festivities.
Join us on Thursday for a special TGIT* with Amir Harizi, owner of Desert Winery, to explore the history and variety of the Israeli wine industry, hear about the unique wines coming out of Israel’s desert regions, and enjoy a wine-maker’s tales – as well as tastings of his very special varietals. As always, the wine and cheese, chips and salsa will help to close out the week…
*”TGIT” – Thank Goodness It’s Thursday end-of-week gatherings on occasional Thursdays at 4pm (with wine & cheese, beer & snacks).
