 Tel Aviv’s annual Gay Pride Parade, scheduled for June 8, 2018, is one of Tel Aviv’s biggest events of the year, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the world. Tel Aviv’s pride parade is the largest pride event in Asia and the Middle East, and one of the largest parades in the world.  In honor of the 20th anniversary of the gay pride parade in Tel Aviv and 30 years since the annulment of the law banning gay relations, pride events this year were crowned with the title “Community Makes History”.

Speakers include pioneers of Israel’s LGBTQ community.

Prof. Uzi Even – the first openly gay member of Israel’s Knesset. He caused the government to change the law and allow homosexuals to serve in the army in any position. He was also the first same-sex male couple in Israel whose right of adoption was legally acknowledged. He worked as a scientist at the Negev Nuclear Research Center near Dimona and is a professor emeritus of physical chemistry at Tel Aviv University.
Lt. Ofer Erez – the first openly transgender officer in the IDF. He received his surgery during his service. He is currently CEO of the Open House for the Gay Community in Jerusalem.
Efrat Tilma (TBC) – the first transgender woman in Israel to volunteer in the Israeli police.
Boaz Peiper – one of the four members of the Israeli drag band “Bnot Pesya” which was the first band to bring drag into Israeli mainstream. He is an actor, singer, theater director, producer and graphic designer.
