PHONE CONFERENCE – Normalizing an Abnormal Situation: Syria Looks to the Future – Thursday, Oct 18 at 11am

October 18, 2018PAST EVENT
After a seven year civil war full of bloodshed, the Syrian regime, led by President Bashar al-Assad, seems to have regained its stability with the help of allies such as Russia and Iran.
On Oct.14 it was announced that Jordan and Syria have agreed to reopen the Naseeb Crossing, three years after the commercial lifeline fell to rebel groups and traffic was halted.
Furthermore, Israel announced that the Kuneitra crossing between Israel and Syria will reopen, at this stage to be used by UN forces only.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with Russian President Putin for the first time since a Russian reconnaissance plane was shot down over Syrian airspace a few weeks ago. The two will discuss the continuation of the important security coordination between the IDF and the Russian army in light of the advanced S-300 anti-aircraft system given to Syria.

Prof. Uzi Rabi will speak about the future of Syria and its potential implications on the region and Israel.
