After the Shin Bet Chief’s announcement regarding a foreign country that intends to intervene in the Israeli election, the speculations began.
What is Israel doing to avoid a cyber security breach during the upcoming 2019 elections? How would Israel deal with an attack if it happened? Could there be additional cyber threats that don’t emanate from powerful governments in foreign countries? How can bots be used to manipulate popular opinion before Israelis step into voting booths?
Dr. Colonel (Res.) Gabi Siboni is a senior research fellow and the director of the Military and Strategic Affairs and Cyber Warfare programs at the Institute for National Security Studies, and a colonel in the Israel Defense Forces Reserve service. Siboni is a senior expert on national security, military strategy and operations, military technology, cyber warfare, and force buildup.
