An Iranian military commander is warning that there will be a ‘devastating’ response to the recent helicopter missile strike at a site in the Syrian sector of the Golan Heights, reportedly killing 6 Hezbollah operatives as well as Iranian commanders including Jihad Mughniyah, son of a Hezbollah military commander who was killed in a bombing in 2008.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied the strike which Israeli officials quoted by news agencies have said was intended to preempt a planned Hezbollah infiltration into Israel.
Hilal Khashan, a professor of political science at the American University of Beirut. told the Washington Post that Hezbollah will not retaliate because it does not want to go to war with Israel.
