In a rare statement made Tuesday, Iran’s intelligence minister said that his country could push for a nuclear weapon, should the international sanctions on Tehran remain in place.
Nuclear defense expert Col. (Res.) Dr. Ori Nissim Levy will analyze the statement, its timing and significance, and discuss the next possible steps for Israel, the US and the international community.
Dr. Levy is Chairman of the World Nuclear Forum 193. His research focuses on policy for managing nuclear risks at a governmental level, preparations for nuclear incidents, coping during events and national rehabilitation after a nuclear event. As part of his professional qualifications in the field of managing international crises and nuclear defense, he qualified from a course in managing international crises, is a member of AFNA (Academic Forum for Nuclear Awareness), a committee member of the Peace and Security Association and member of the International Relations Committee of Lahav – Israel Chamber of Independent Organizations and Businesses. Dr. Levy holds a PhD in political science and international relations.
