From Jerusalem to the Gaza Strip: Israeli-Palestinian Tensions Erupt in Violence With Brig. Gen. (res.) Udi Dekel, Managing Director of the INSS

April 12, 2021PAST EVENT

Following a series of rocket attacks, the Israeli security cabinet has green lighted a potential major military operation in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. This comes amid ongoing clashes in Jerusalem during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and on the backdrop of the possible postponement of the first Palestinian legislative elections in 15 years.

Brig. Gen. (res.) Udi Dekel will analyze these latest developments and discuss what options are on the table for Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.

Udi Dekel is the managing director of the prestigious Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies. Prior to that, he filled many senior IDF positions in intelligence, international military cooperation and strategic planning. His last post in the Israeli military was head of the Strategic Planning Division in the Planning Directorate of the General Staff, and as a reservist he is head of the Center for Strategic Planning. Additionally, Dekel led the Israeli negotiations team with the Palestinians in the Annapolis process under then-prime minister Ehud Olmert’s government.
