Field Tour: Hebron and UNESCO Vote on the Old City and Cave of the Patriarchs

July 6, 2017PAST EVENT

This Friday, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee is scheduled to vote on the Palestinian proposal to recognize Hebron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs as Palestinian heritage sites. This follows Tuesday’s vote when UNESCO passed a resolution denouncing Israeli activity in Jerusalem’s Old City. In May, UNESCO’s board ratified a resolution denying any legal or historical Jewish or Israeli links to Jerusalem. Israel, the US, and other nations have objected to the UNESCO’s series of moves deemed anti-Israel.
