The Gush Etzion (Etzion bloc) junction and communities just beyond have been the target of multiple Palestinian terror attacks; more than 600 security incidents since September. The army is restricting Hebron-area Palestinians from entering Etzion bloc communities and IDF checkpoints in the area have been increased. Other security measures being discussed include changing the road network, revoking the work permits of the terrorists’ families or deporting them to the Gaza Strip.
We will tour the area and hear from community leaders and residents about the security situation.
The half-day tour to the area will include:
Visits to the flash-points where attacks have taken place and an opportunity to see the new security measures being put in place.
A meeting with Davidi Perl, Etzion Bloc Council director.
A visit to a Rami Levy supermarket in Gush Etzion which employs both Israelis and Palestinians, meeting the employees and the branch manager.
A briefing from an IDF officer regarding the security situation in the area.
