Not long ago, Benjamin Netanyahu became the longest-serving prime minister in Israel’s history, even surpassing the tenure of the Jewish state’s founding PM David Ben-Gurion. Today, barring any last-minute developments, a new government will be sworn in, led for the very first time by Naftali Bennett (Yamina) and Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid). The change of administration comes after four consecutive election rounds in less than two years.
Prof. Guy Ben-Porat and Dr. Gayil Talshir will discuss this significant political development, the prospect of the expected Lapid-Bennett coalition, Netanyahu’s political future, and the impact of this new government on Israeli society.
Prof. Ben-Porat heads the Department of Politics and Government at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
Dr. Talshir is an expert in political science who previously headed the Center for Senior Training at the School of Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
