President Donald Trump tweeted that today, 2pm EST and 9pm in Israel, he will announce whether or not to pull the US out of the Iran nuclear deal, the JCPOA. British, French, and German governments have made clear their strong preference that the US maintain the JCPOA. Conversely, Prime Minister Netanyahu repeatedly stressed that if Iran won’t agree to amend the nuclear deal, than President Trump should leave it. Recently, Israel and Iran have increased tensions in Syria. Israel was accused of targeting Iranian-run military positions in Syria. The strike killed more than a dozen pro-government forces, mostly Iranians. Israel has not confirmed or denied responsibility for the attack but Iran has vowed to retaliate, without specifying how and when it would do so.
Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Yossi Kuperwasser- Director General of Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry, served in a number of senior roles in the IDF including head of the Research and Assessment Division of Military Intelligence. Previously, he was the senior intelligence officer of the IDF Central Command.
