Briefing on Saudi Arabia versus Iran, Power Struggle in the Middle East

 Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri’s unusual resignation in Saudi Arabia two weeks ago highlighted the region’s uncertainty and growing power struggle between Iran and Saudia Arabia. Saudi Arabia and Arab Allies are meeting in Egypt today to discuss Iran. This tension is already felt across the Middle East. The Syrian Civil War and ISIS’s influence are both ebbing, and Iran and Russia are filling this void. Israel is adamantly opposed to Iranian presence along its northern border, and joined Saudi Arabia and other moderate Sunni countries voicing their fear against Iran’s growing regional influence.

Speakers include:

Col. (res.) Dr. Eran Lerman- is a former deputy for foreign policy and international affairs at the National Security Council in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. He held senior posts in IDF Military Intelligence for over 20 years and also served as Israel’s director of the American Jewish Committee.

Prof. Efraim Inbar- is the president of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategic Studies.  He is an expert on Israeli strategic doctrine, public opinion on national security issues, nuclear matters, U.S. Middle East policy, U.S.-Israel relations, Israeli-Palestinian diplomacy, and Israel-Turkey relations. He was a member of the Political Strategic Committee of the National Planning Council and the Chair of the Committee for the National Security Curriculum at the Ministry of Education.
