Throughout the past decades, Palestinian goods exported to Israel have passed through a thorough security check at the Tarkumia Crossing, before being loaded on to a truck with an Israeli license plate, and then shipped to the Israeli customer.
A few months ago, COGAT began operating a pilot program called “Door to Door” in 6 factories located in the West Bank. The pilot’s goal is to attempt avoiding delays at the crossing, with the help of Israeli trucks that deliver the goods from the factory to the Israeli customer.
According to the factory owners, this new method has increased the output of the Palestinian factories participating in the pilot tremendously.
