The EU is about to pass a new regulation urging member countries to specially label consumer products imported from Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the Golan Heights. The EU, Israel’s largest trading partner, argues that goods manufactured or grown in the disputed territories outside Israel’s internationally recognized borders “cannot be designated made in Israel.”
Israel has launched a diplomatic campaign in response. There is widespread discontent in Israel across the political spectrum regarding EU labeling, which some see as discriminatory and anti-Israel.
