Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Sunday evening met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, in what is believed to be the first direct sit-down between an Israeli and Palestinian minister since 2010.
An anonymous Israeli source said that the meeting focused on “defense establishment” issues and did not mark the beginning of peace negotiations, but what opportunities lie ahead?
Maj. Gen. (res.) Eitan Dangot will discuss the development, its significance and the possible implications for the Israeli and Palestinian governments.
Major-General Dangot concluded his extensive military career as the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (C.O.G.A.T.) in 2014. Prior to that post he served as the Military Secretary to three Ministers of Defense: Shaul Mofaz, Amir Peretz and Ehud Barak. He is currently a Research Fellow at the JISS and President of the Association of Oil and Gas Exploration Industries in Israel.
