Pope Visit: Briefing/Tour - 23 April 10:30-2:30þ-Video Link
In preparation for the Pope's visit MediaCentral is pleased to invite members of the foreign press to a Briefing & Tour, Thursday April 23rd 10:30-14:30
Walking tour of the Christian Quarter including stops at sites to be visited by Pope Benedict XVI during his visit
13:30 -- Briefing with Wadie Abu Nassar, official spokesman for the Pope's visit, at the Latin Patriarchate in the Old City
Mr. Daniel Rossing will discuss Israel-Vatican relations with an additional focus on relations between Jews and Christians in Israel. After the briefing there will be a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem starting at Jaffa Gate and moving on to the Christian Quarter where we will visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and the Latin Patriarchate.
Mr. Rossing is the Director of the Jerusalem Center for Jewish-Christian Relations and has a significant background in Christian affairs in Israel, including having worked for 13 years in the Israeli Ministry of Religion. He is author of Between Heaven and Earth: Testimonies to 2,000 Years of Christianity in the Holy Land.
Mr. Wadie Abu Nassar will give the briefing at the Latin Patriarchate. He will talk about Christians in the Holy Land and the importance of the Pope's visit and its effect on Palestinian Christians, and will give an update about the Pope's schedule.
Mr. Wadie Abu Nassar is the media coordinator for the Pope's visit and is a Spokesman for the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem. Mr. Nassar has a degree in Political Science and International Relations from Tel Aviv University and is a regular commentator on Israel's domestic politics on Palestinian radio and other Arab radio and TV channels, including "Al-Jazeera".
